      That's short for Geographical Information System, and you can get yours on, now that Derry has launched an interactive mapping site.
      Take some time to play around with the different layers and options. Find out who lives where, how much their taxes are, where walking paths lead, locate the nearest aquifer.
      Then, email Doug Rathburn, Derry's IT Manager, and tell him what you think, or ask him how to make good use of this elaborate mapping system.

      4H Teen Leadership Club
      Opportunities abound for young
       people ages 13 and older:
      The Next Step Teen Club is a Club open to youth ages 13 and up, from anywhere in Rockingham County or nearby. 
      The club meets twice a month and participates in some additional events and activities.
      Leadership Program: 

      On the first Thursday of the month, club members focus on citizenship initiatives around the county and beyond. Currently these projects include managing the 
      Omelet Wagon at the Deerfield Fair for the Rockingham County 4-H Foundation, as well as outreach to fellow youth in the island community of Dominica.

      Spring cleaning time?
      There are alternatives to yard sales.
      Try Freecycle/Derry
      an online community where you can offer that coffee table you no longer use to a neighbor in need, or find a fish tank to replace the one that just cracked that someone else has just sitting around. 
      Although it's membership based, membership is free. There are ground rules, but as long as you're not giving away your first-born male child (or animals) most everything goes.
